Pins and Needles

So I know this has nothing to do with Coconut Oil or cooking, but my first experience with acupuncture simply had to be blogged about! I’ve always wanted to try it, and when my allergies this season were more than bearable I decided to make an appointment. It started off like a normal doctors appointment (waiting room for 45 minutes, blood pressure, heart rate, basic lifestyle questions), but quickly took some interesting turns.

Waiting for Dr Fan

Dr Fan gave me a PH strip to put in my mouth, and I found out that I am acidic. That apparently means too many carbs and not enough veggies this morning. Oops!

Then she looked at my tongue, nodded, and wrote some stuff down. Then it was time for the fun (scary!) part. She started with the first needles in the top of my scalp. I wont say it didnt hurt, but it wasnt bad. Kind of like a mosquito bite. Then I got needles in my wrists, sides of my neck, forehead, the sides of my nose, upper abs, and inner knees.

She left me alone for about 30 minutes, during which I almost fell asleep a few times. The only thing keeping me from completely dozing off were the needles in my wrists, which were really the only ones that hurt at all (and only when I moved).

Its been a week now, and I definitely have fewer allergy symptoms! Not a miracle cure, but great anyway. Have you ever tried acupuncture? Did you have long term results? Please share!
