Baking With Love

There is nothing better than making freshly baked treats for your Valentine! I think we can all agree that fresh cookies or treats beat store-bought candy any day. Now for the tough part, how to narrow down recipes? I found hundreds of Valentine’s Day recipes online, but too complicated or required too many ingredients. So I sought advice from my favorite little helpers and narrowed it down to Heart-Shaped Cinnamon Buns and Heart-Shaped Cookie Pie and (Do you see a pattern here? Because I certainly did). I found some fun recipes and switched them up a bit so feel free to get creative!

Heart-Shaped Cinnamon Buns

For these cinnamon buns, you can either make them for breakfast and with maple syrup or make them for dessert by melting chocolate. Either recipe works, and the best part? They only take 30 minutes to make!

Ingredients needed:

1 (14 oz) can of pizza dough

½ cup of Kelapo Ghee (melted)

½ cup of coconut sugar

2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon

Kelapo Ghee Non-Stick Cooking Spray

Dips

1 cup of maple syrup (for dipping)

1 cup of chocolate chips

1 tablespoon of Kelapo Coconut Oil

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Grease baking sheet with Kelapo Ghee Spray and set to the side. In a bowl, add the cinnamon and coconut sugar and mix thoroughly. Next, unroll the pizza dough onto your counter and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly. Using your fingertips, roll up the long edge halfway, and repeat on the second-long edge. The two rolls should then be touching. Cut the roll into 1-inch segments and place them face-up on the baking sheet. Using a brush, brush the melted Kelapo Ghee on the top of the heart-shaped cinnamon buns. Once finished, place into the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven when ready and serve warm with dipping sauce!

To make the chocolate dipping sauce, simply add the chocolate chips and Kelapo Coconut Oil into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat up in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes with intervals of 20 seconds. After seconds, make sure to mix the chocolate and coconut oil before place back into the microwave. Once fully melted, dip half the heart-shaped cinnamon buns and let cool on a rack. Enjoy!

Valentine’s Day Cookie Pie

For this recipe, make sure you purchase a heart-shaped baking pan. Or you can use a round one if that’s all you have in your pantry. With the chocolate being heart-shaped you’ll still have the Valentine’s Day theme.

Ingredients needed:

1 cup of Kelapo Ghee (melted)

1 cup of coconut sugar

1 cup of brown sugar

1 large egg

2 egg yolks

1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

4 cups of almond flour (or coconut flour)

¼ cup of cornstarch

½ teaspoon of salt

2 cups of M&M’s (these are fun if you make them Valentine’s Day themed)

¾ cup of your favorite heart-shaped chocolate

Kelapo Ghee Non-Stick Cooking Spray

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Grease the baking pan with Kelapo Ghee Spray and set aside. In a large bowl, add the melted Kelapo Ghee, brown sugar, and coconut sugar then beat with a hand mixer until thoroughly mixed. Into that same bowl, using a hand mixer beat in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Then add in the last ingredients, almond flour cornstarch, and salt. Carefully beat in the ingredients while making sure not to over mix. Last but not least, fold in the chocolates of your choosing using a non-stick spatula. Once ready, spread the mixture onto the greased pan and top with additional candy to decorate if preferred. Pop the cookie pie in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Once the cookie pie is ready, let cool for about an hour before serving!
