EveryBody Deserves a Massage Week

EveryBody Deserves a Massage Week: July 13-19, 2014

Today marks the start of “EveryBody Deserves a Massage Week,” in which massage therapists come together nationwide to spread awareness of the benefits of massage, bodywork, and somatic therapies. I personally am a firm believer in getting massages regularly and try to go once a week. Being in the gym anywhere from 5 to 7 times per week, my body takes a beating from weightlifting, agility, and cardio. I recently started to opt for deep disuse massages and have had my massage therapist use coconut oil on me instead of lotion. I have really sensitive skin and have found that I’m no longer left with redness and breakouts that would occur from the lotion getting deep into my pores. Not to mention, my skin if left completely soft and moisturized after!

For therapists that are interested in participating in EveryBody Deserves a Massage Week, you can start by getting involved in local community events or by discounting services to those in your area or even regular customers. Gyms are also a prime location to collaborate with for trial massages since many members may not know the importance of receiving massages when working out on a regular basis. Since I have incorporated deep tissue massages in with avid stretching, there has been a noticeable difference in the way my muscles look, along with my shape and overall wellbeing of my body.

If you’re interested in trying coconut oil as a massage lubricant, simply later about a tablespoon on the desired area, massage, and reapply as needed – a little definitely goes a long way! You can also try our DIY Edible Massage Oil that has a great aroma. Don’t forget your little ones; their bodies are just as important. Our blog on the benefits of infant massage is a very insightful one.
