DIY Raw Honey and Coconut Oil Facial Mask

Raw Honey and Coconut Oil Mask

I’m all about the DIY tips and tricks, especially when it comes to my face. I’m not one to buy all of the expensive products with lots of chemicals so I opt to make my own. I recently wrote a blog about my DIY Acne Remedy which is based around coconut oil. Since coconut oil has anti-bacterial properties I feel like it really helps to cleanse your face. I have also done researching showing that raw honey contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties which may help to disinfect and speed the healing process for acne. I basically got out of it that combing coconut oil and raw honey together, for your face, will do wonders for your skin if nothing else seems to be working.

Ingredients:

1 TBSP. Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

1 TBSP. Raw Honey

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl combine honey and coconut oil together.
  2. Apply evenly all over your face.
  3. Allow mask to ‘dry’ on your skin for about 5 minutes.
  4. After this time take a warm, damp washcloth and lay it over your face.
  5. Remove washcloth and gently remove mask with warm water.

I really enjoyed this mask and think it would be wonderful to apply right before a relaxing bubble bath. I applied the warm, damp washcloth to my face so that it allowed my pores to open up and allowed the mask to remove any impurities from my skin. I do this mask about every 2 weeks if I notice my skin isn’t as clear as I like it from just oil cleansing. Also, with today being the first day of Autumn I wanted to share a new way to improve your skin. Although, the seasons don’t change too much in Florida I do get the occasional dry skin from changing weather and I have found this raw honey and coconut oil mask to help keep my skin in check. Be sure to read up on How To: Protect your skin during changing seasons, I give some great tips about how coconut oil can help your skin, no matter what climate you live in!

How do you help your skin look its best? Do you buy store-bought products or are you a DIY person?

**TIPS – I only used half as much coconut oil and honey that the recipe called for. The first time I left the mask on my skin for about 10 minutes and realized the coconut oil was too much as it was runny on my face. I now use about a half a tablespoon of honey and a teaspoon or less of coconut oil and it comes out a lot more sticky of a texture. When you begin to use this mask please understand that you may need to adjust the measurements to your preference and how your skin reacts to both ingredients. Enjoy!
