Halloween Puppy Chow
Puppy chow… Muddy Buddies… whatever you want to call it, this childhood treat is still a favorite. Below is the basic recipe, feel free to add whatever mix-ins you want. I made a Halloween puppy show, but it can be easily adapted to all holidays or you can just make your favorite flavor:
Halloween – Add in Reeces Pieces
Christmas – Add in red and green M&M’s
4th of July – Red, white, and blue M&M’s
S’mores – Use Golden Grahams instead of Chex and add in marshmallows
Cookies n Cream – Use white chocolate chips and mix in finely crushed Oreos
Cake Batter – Use white chocolate chips and mix in sprinkles and Funfetti powder cake mix
Other mix ins – almonds, dried cranberries, Nutella instead of chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, use popcorn or other cereals instead of Chex.
Puppy Chow
9 cups Chex cereal (rice, corn, or chocolate)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup peanut butter
¼ cup Kelapo Coconut Oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
Your favorite mix in
In a microwave proof bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, coconut oil, and vanilla extract. Heat in microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir and then heat for 30 seconds more or until it is smooth when stirred.
Add cereal to large bowl. Pour melted chocolate mixture over cereal and gently mix together, being careful not to break up the cereal. Add cereal mixture, powdered sugar, and your favorite mix in to a large Ziploc bag. Shake until powdered sugar covers all cereal. Enjoy!
What is your favorite mix-in?
