Benefits of Coconut Oil for Man’s Best Friend
Today we celebrate man’s best friend! (no offense cat people) It is National Dog Day we’re all about it. Can you guess why?
Coconut oil is the most versatile oil and can you believe it’s great for dogs too? Coconut oil can improve a dog’s digestion, reduce their allergies, combat illnesses or shine their coat! Just like we use it to moisturize our skin, it works wonders on your dog’s dry skin too.
Its’ “superfood” benefits include:
We can all agree that coconut oil should definitely be on your pet’s diet. And while a spoonful of coconut oil can go a long way, let’s make something better for them!
Homemade Peanut butter Coconut Oil Dog Treats
These are delicious (or so my dog would say if he spoke). With only 3 dog-friendly ingredients, they’ll be out of the kitchen and in your dog’s belly in no time.
Ingredients needed:
1 cup of all-natural peanut butter
1 cup of Kelapo Coconut Oil
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
For this recipe, you’ll need a silicone tray. This is where you can get creative with designs! I found some on Amazon that was flower-shaped and those are the ones I used. First, you’ll want to completely melt down the coconut oil. Place inside a saucepan and stir until completely liquefied. In that same pan, add the peanut butter and cinnamon and continue to stir. Once all ingredients have combined, pour the mixture in the tray of your choosing. Pop these into the freezer for about 2 to 3 hours. Viola, your dog’s treats are ready! You can store the rest of the streets in the fridge inside a container.
Cheers to man’s best friends!
Peace, love and Kelapo
