Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frozen Yogurt

Frozen yogurt made with Greek Yogurt!

What is better in the summer or for an after school snack than ice cream?! I found this recipe for frozen yogurt that is made with Greek yogurt, so its way more healthy for you and has tons of protein packed right in.  Remember my eggless cookie dough bites from yesterday? Pull those out of the refrigerator and dump some in to make it extra delicious.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frozen Yogurt

Adapted from Foods For The Soul

2 c plain nonfat Greek yogurt

5-6 tbsp granulated sugar (or more, to taste)

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp vanilla-flavored vodka

10 bites chocolate chip cookie dough bites

In a large bowl, stir together the yogurt, sugar, vanilla extract, and vodka. Spread across the bottom of a metal 8” baking sheet, and place in the freezer for 45 minutes.

Remove the baking sheet from the freezer, and vigorously stir the semi-frozen mixture with a spatula. Spread the yogurt back over the bottom of the pan, and place back in the freezer. Repeat 3-4 more times, waiting 30 minutes in between each stir.

During the last 30-minute mixing interval, cut each cookie dough bite into fourths. After stirring the yogurt with the spatula, stir in the cookie dough pieces. Transfer to a freezer-safe container with a lid and place back in the freezer for another 30 minutes before serving.

Note: Since it is made with Greek yogurt, it does turn out a little tart. I added 6 tablespoons of sugar and it still wasn’t overly sweet, so if you want it super sweet add even more.  If you like it tart then reduce your sugar down to 3 tablespoons.  The vodka is optional, but it does help the yogurt maintain a creamy consistency and not freeze solid, plus you can sneak a few sips while you’re making it!  Bonus!

Top the yogurt with one of our favorite recipes: Chocolate Shell! It’s magic!
