I have been dealing with acne since I was in my teens and to this day, still have issues with my skin. I can’t begin to tell you how many products I have used. From face wash, wipes, to the classic crushed aspirin remedy, I have tried it all and nothing seemed to work. With having dry skin, I recently started using coconut oil on my skin as a moisturizer and noticed that my acne was getting somewhat clearer. It made sense since the anti-bacterial properties that coconut oil has been actually helping clear up my skin.
I recently read about the benefits of using Epsom salt for acne and decided to mix this with coconut oil as a facial scrub – so far, it has been working for me. Epsom salt is made with magnesium sulfate and known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which is why I chose this ingredient. According to Brad Chase from Progressive Health, Epsom salt may help acne by reducing inflammation, purging toxins, improve magnesium intake, remove dead skin, kill bacteria, and help out dry the skin. Here’s what you’ll need to make my coconut oil and Epsom salt facial scrub:
Ingredients
2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
3 tablespoons Epsom salt
Directions
- Place melted coconut oil into a small plastic dish.
- Add in Epsom salt and mix together thoroughly.
- Apply scrub to skin, making sure to evenly coat the affected areas.
- Wash off and moisturize with coconut oil, as desired.
I love this scrub because it is so simple to make and can be used all over the body as needed. There’s nothing better than knowing the ingredients I’m using on my skin are all-natural. Feel free to add tea tree oil to this scrub for added acne fighting benefits. For more skin tips, be sure to check out Lani’s acne remedy and coconut oil and honey face wash.
