Homemade Belgian Waffles
Homemade Belgian Waffles topped with coconut oil, cinnamon, and syrup.
Below is a basic recipe for Belgian Waffles. Feel free to dress up the waffles by adding in your favorites. Choose from strawberries, mashed bananas, other frozen or fresh fruit, cinnamon and brown sugar, applesauce, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, pecans, orange zest, vanilla, and the list goes on and on. Experiment a little and let us know your favorite combinations.
Homemade Belgian Waffles

Preheat your waffle iron. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt in a medium bowl.Whisk together the eggs, melted coconut oil and buttermilk in a small bowl. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix. Set the batter aside at room temperature for 20 minutes. Spray the waffle iron with coconut oil cooking spray. Cook the waffles according the manufacturer’s directions until golden brown. Remove to a baking rack.
Top with coconut oil instead of butter and a little syrup. Enjoy!
