National Hamburger Day

Memorial Weekend has ended and we’re back to our daily routines, but that doesn’t mean the party stops there! It’s still National Barbecue Month AND May 28th is also National Hamburger Day! We’ve been cooking all weekend, so what’s one more day on the grill? I know I’ve personally exhausted all the hamburgers in the house so I’m making a recipe twist to the classic burger!

Turkey Burger Recipe

So recently I found out that a lot of people have never tried a turkey burger before! My family has always made both options, so it never occurred to me that it might not be as common. My mom was not able to share her recipe with me, but I’ve searched many blogs and recipe books and came across a recipe that comes close!

Ingredients needed:

1 lb of lean ground turkey

1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons of ketchup

¾ teaspoon of kosher salt

½ teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper

1 teaspoon of canola oil or Kelapo Ghee Non-Stick Cooking Spray

For serving

4 hamburger buns

1 tomato (sliced)

1 red onion (thinly sliced)

Half a pickle (thinly sliced)

Lettuce

Ketchup

Mustard

Mayonnaise

In a large bowl, add the ground turkey, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, and pepper and using a spoon mix all the ingredients with the ground turkey until completely coated. Divide the meat to create 4 patties. Use your hands shape into a ½ inch patty. If you’re using a skillet then cook with the canola oil but if you’re using a grill, then cook the patties by spraying the Kelapo Ghee Spray on the grill. Once the canola oil has heated up, then add the patties and cook on each side for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until the thermometer reads 160 degrees. Add all the condiments on the serving list and enjoy!
