Sara Snow’s Coconut Oil… In The Bath?

Kelapo in the bathroom!

Summer is for playing outside; swimming pools, tennis games, hop scotch on sidewalks decorated with sidewalk chalk.  But so much playing under the hot sun can leave your skin needing a little more TLC than usual.  And while coconut oil has (finally) come to much acclaim in the kitchen, I’d like to propose yours make its way into your bathroom, too!

A few months ago my mother-in-law told me that, based on an Ayurvedic recommendation for her particular dosha, she was using coconut oil on her face every night.  While I’m a huge fan of facial oils as opposed to lotions and creams, I had never tried coconut oil on my face.  So I decided to start experimenting.  Here’s what I’ve learned.

Summer Bathroom Use #1:  Coconut oil sooths sunburned skin.  Just lightly rub it onto sun-tinged skin to help sooth and heal with less risk of peeling.

Summer Bathroom Use #2:  Coconut oil softens pool-deck-roughed-up feet.  You know what I’m talking about.  Too many days running barefoot around the pool and your pedis are not so pretty!  And because it’s naturally anti-fungal, it’s helps fight against that locker room funk!

Summer Bathroom Use #3:  Coconut oil glams your gams.  Never do you have to shave so much as in the summer.  Leggies, bikinis and pitties have to stay smooth 24/7 because one never knows when she is going to be invited to a smashing pool party!  But coconut oil works better than any shaving cream that I’ve ever used.  And the best part is that you don’t have to moisturize after you’re done!  Just towel off and flaunt those short shorts like nobody’s business.

So my proposal is that you take that coconut oil for a walk, down the hall, and into the bathroom.  You’ll be softened and oh so sweet-smelling before you know it!
