Sweet and Salty Pretzel Bark

This easy treat is not only delicious, but also makes a great gift!

I’m one of those people who secretly loved the idea of those chocolate covered potato chips. Don’t worry, I read the label and decided against it. But there is something to having a sweet salty mixture that tastes so good. Today’s recipe is a Pinterest inspired find – a Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bark.

There are so many things I love about making bark. One it’s such an easy gift – Mother’s Day anyone? Secondly, it’s so versatile. Once you have the basics you can quite literally get rid of anything in your pantry (like leftover Halloween or Christmas candy). This time around, I added some gluten-free sixlets for color and an added crunch.

Ingredients:

1 cup dark chocolate, crushed

1 tablespoon Kelapo Coconut Oil

1 bag pretzels, broken into pieces

Optional:

Candy for coloring

Directions:

Up close and ready to eat!

Mix chocolate and coconut oil in microwave safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, stir. Heat at 15 second intervals until chocolate is completely melted. (Don’t worry, if you add too much coconut oil, now is the time to add just a tad more chocolate to get the mixture just right.)

Once melted, add in half of the pretzels directly into the chocolate.

Pour over parchment paper lined baking sheet. Top with other half of pretzels and any additional candy.

Place in freezer until hard. Break into bite-sized pieces and enjoy!

If you are doing this for a gift, I love putting it in a clear bag and tying it up with cute ribbon. It’s so easy and inexpensive, it would make great favors, too.

Hope you enjoy this salty-sweet snack as much as I did!
