Tom Brady’s TB12 Chunky Guacamole with a Kelapo Twist
Super Bowl Sunday is upon us! Arguably the Mecca of sports championships, where people gather, eat, drink, socialize and watch football. Oh, this is not just another Sunday, nor is it an ordinary game. Reaching the Super Bowl is the pinnacle of every player’s and fan’s dreams–the one Sunday evening where just about every American across the world regardless of level of fandom tunes in to watch not only the game, but also the commercials; along with the much-anticipated Halftime Show. In his first year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NFL legend and rejuvenated 43-year-old Tom Brady will face-off against the defending Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs, featuring 18 years his younger, current league MVP and gunslinger, Patrick Mahomes.
Beyond his incredible drive to win, there’s a reason why Brady is still competing at a high-level. Known for his rigorous, and at times controversial workout routines and his unique, but healthy diet, Tom Brady will be starring in an unheralded 7th Super Bowl on February 7. On top of that, this Super Bowl is historic, as it’s the first time the host city’s team is playing in the game. Whether you’re going to a Super Bowl party with family and friends or keeping it low key relaxing at home, no Super Bowl is complete without chips and guacamole. Since you’re not lucky enough to share it with him, you can make food Super Bowl food history by snacking on Tom Brady’s personal favorite TB12 Chunky Guac while you watch him hurl touchdowns. Here are the winning ingredients.
The TB12 Chunky Chips and Guac:
Guacamole Directions
¼ cup diced white onion (rinsed and strained)
1 garlic clove (minced)
¼ teaspoon ground coriander
½ green jalapeño, seeded and (finely diced)
1 Tbsp. fresh lemon or lime juice, plus 1 tsp. zest
1/2 tsp. Himalayan salt (you can add more if preferred)
1 ripe Haas avocado
12 fresh basil leaves, (delicately sliced)
Place the onion, garlic, salt, coriander, citrus juice and zest, jalapeño in a bowl, and thoroughly mix.
Lengthwise run your knife around each avocado, delicately cutting down to the pit. Then, twist the avocado in half to remove the pit. To correctly slice into cubes, ensure the avocado is cut with its side facing up. Next, use a spoon to scoop the cubes of 1/2 the avocado into the bowl and mash with a fork or utensil until creamy. After that, add the cubes of the second half of the avocado and the basil and fold into mix. It’s important that you mash them slightly while leaving big chunks intact.
Making Delicious Gourmet Chips with Kelapo
Adjust salt to taste and serve immediately. Skip the chips and serve with veggie sticks or Sweet Potato Toast instead! Heat 1-inch of Kelapo coconut oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat to 350 degrees F°.
Arrange 8 corn tortillas in a stack and cut into 6 equal wedges like a pizza. Fry a few chips at a time, turning occasionally with a slotted spoon, until crisp and lightly browned, about 1 minute. Drain chips on paper towels, sprinkle lightly with seasoning and store in an airtight container.
Optional Seasoning:
1 tbsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
Regardless of the outcome of the game, with a little help from Tom Brady, impress people with the TB12 Chunky Guacamole and Kelapo infused chips. You’ll be a surefire MVC (Most Valuable Cooker) candidate of the night!
