Top 5 Cookie Favorites

The Peanut Butter Blossoms are my favorite!

Today is National Cookie Day!  With the holidays quickly approaching, I decided to put together my top 5 favorite cookies into one spot. Of course you can be sure all the cookie recipes listed below have the butter substituted with coconut oil. Now remember when substituting coconut oil for butter, the consistency the recipe calls for must be the same and replaced in a 1:1 ratio. For example, ½ cup softened butter would call for ½ cup softened coconut oil. I personally love the added flavor and moisture coconut oil gives to any baked goods and can honestly say I would never go back to using anything else. Let’s take a look at my favorite recipes for homemade cookies:

Peanut Butter Blossoms – Is there a better combination than peanut butter and chocolate? These cookies are the best when fresh out of the oven in order to enjoy the warm chocolate candy on top.

Everything Oatmeal Cookies – The traditional oatmeal cookie is transformed by adding dark and white chocolate chips, along with raisins. Feel free to add any of your other favorite ingredients such as cranberries, shredded coconut or almond slivers.

Pumpkin Sugar Cookies – This recipe is great for vegans since eggs were substituted with pumpkin puree. The addition of pumpkin spice and nutmeg make it a treat that’s not too sweet and perfect for this fall season.

Monster Peanut Butter Cookies – Cookies and candy all in one?! These are a festive favorite for children and adults. You can never go wrong with a soft cookie and a surprise candy crunch.

Chocolate Crackle Crinkle Cookies – These are a must make for the holiday season. With a layer of powdered sugar and decadent chocolate inside, you can’t go wrong with pleasing your hungry guests.

I hope that you’ll find a favorite from these recipes and enjoy a few cookies for National Cookie Day!
